How to delete your account
- Sign in to Smart Money.
- Open Settings → Privacy.
- Under “Data & rights”, choose “Download my data” first if you want a copy — after deletion we cannot recover it.
- Choose “Delete my account”, type DELETE to confirm, and confirm.
Deletion runs immediately and you are signed out when it finishes. There is no waiting period and no reactivation.
What is deleted
- Every transaction, budget, goal, debt, asset, investment and forecast you have recorded.
- Bank connections and their access tokens — revoked with the provider, not just unlinked.
- Your profile, settings, connected phone numbers and WhatsApp link.
- Scheduled reports, reminders, advisor conversations and support tickets.
- Imported statements and receipt files.
What is kept, and why
One thing survives deletion, and only because the law requires it:
- Billing records (subscription and payment history) are retained for 7 years, as the Income Tax Act (Canada) and IRS record-keeping rules require. They hold no transaction-level detail — no merchants, no amounts you spent, no bank data. They are removed at the end of that period.
- Encrypted backups roll on a 30-day window, so deleted records disappear from backups within 30 days.
- If you share a household with someone else, the household itself is not deleted — that would delete their data too. Your own records inside it are.
If you cannot sign in

Settings → Privacy → “Download my data” gives you everything we hold, as JSON or CSV. Do this before deleting — deletion is permanent.
